Clusters of clear bright scarlet-red double flowers in Summer, followed by bright red fruits. Deeply lobed, green glossy leaves. Leaves turn attractive shades of orange and red in Autumn. Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth. Hawthorns, including the Paul's Scarlet variety, are known for their hardiness and adaptability to various growing conditions. They prefer full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Once established, they are relatively low-maintenance.
